I’ve realised this week that often the first step is the hardest. Whether it’s in relationships, perhaps you haven’t been to see you friend in a long time and don’t know how to strike up a conversation. Maybe it’s in alone time with God, perhaps you’ve been struggling to speak to God, to rely on Him. Perhaps you’re the Pastor of a church who still hasn’t put up his first blog post like he said would!

Well let me tell you the first step may be the hardest but it’s also the most necessary if you want to move forward.

If you haven’t seen that person in a while the first step is to give them a call, strike up a conversation, and you may be surprised at the response you get.

If you’re struggling in in personal time with God, the first step is simply to open open your Bible. Come to it with any preconceived ideas about what God might be trying to teach you and simply read the words on the page. Again, trust me, you’ll be surprised what you find.

In all things remember the first step may be the hardest, but it will be worth it as you go further and further along.

Remember, God sees you at all times, even when you’re struggling and he still loves you just as much as he ever did, not because of anything you have done, but just because that’s who He is, and he was the one who took the first step towards having this relationship with us as His people.

Don’t be afraid to take the first step, it may not be pretty, but it’s a start.

And if you’re a Pastor like me, who still hasn’t put up his first blog post, just do it! It will be worth it.
